YC&AC Alley Bowling 2023 Report
Words: Kanako Iwata, YC&AC Alley Bowling Captain
Following two years of disruption to our Bowling Leagues during the period 2021-2022, we finally managed to hold three full seasons in 2023 for our Autumn, Winter and Spring Leagues, lasting over 30 weeks.
At the end of the season we held an Annual Bowling Tournament followed by a Dinner Party where we had games, prizes and handed out awards for the season. Yachi and Samja won the prestigious Player of the Year awards only given to the most consistent bowlers spanning over the three seasons.
Other events held during the season were Fun Bowling, End of Year Party (held outside of YC&AC) and Otoshidama Bowling in January, the first of the New Year. The Winter League kicked off soon after for the Monday, Wednesday and Thursday Leagues and we are looking forward to bringing back more classic events such as Bowl against the Pro, where we will be inviting a current professional bowler from the Women’s Professional Bowling League to test ourselves against (with handicap).
The Bowling Captaincy is now under the excellent stewardship of Kana Iwata who is putting a lot of effort in to make the Bowling Leagues more inclusive, so we hope to see more bowling enthusiasts join the Leagues in the near future.
