About the Academy

Basketball · Middle & High School

The YC&AC Basketball Academy offers elite-level training for boys and girls in middle school and high school, held every Monday and Wednesday evening at YC&AC.

With 10 practices per month and occasional weekend sessions (schedule shared in advance), athletes receive consistent, high-volume development in a structured, professional environment.

Led by Coach Derek “DJ” James — a certified NBA, FIBA & JBA agent and elite trainer with a global track record — players gain access to world-class development, international exposure, and real pathways to college and professional opportunities.

Frequently Asked Questions
Who is this academy for?
The YC&AC Basketball Academy is open to boys and girls in middle school (grades 6–8) and high school (grades 9–12). All skill levels are welcome, from beginners to competitive players.
How many practices are included per month?
The program includes 10 practices per month — two per week on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6:00–8:00 PM. Occasional weekend sessions may also be added with advance notice.
Is the member rate only for YC&AC members?
Yes — please enter your YC&AC membership number during registration. Non-verified registrations will be billed at the non-member rate (¥25,000/month).
What does International Quest mean for my child?
Coach DJ’s International Quest platform provides high school athletes with global recruiting visibility, individual player profiles, NIL support, and access to ranking systems across Asia and international markets — giving serious players real pathways to college and professional opportunities.
What should my child bring to sessions?
Basketball shoes, comfortable athletic wear, and a water bottle. A basketball is recommended but not required — equipment is available at the facility.
How do I cancel?

12-15 Saturdays per year are official matches in the Kanagawa Prefecture Over-40 league. On all other Saturdays we organize friendly matches with local Masters teams, whether full 11-aside or half pitch 8-aside. About once a month we organize a YCAC-only intra-squad session. As mentioned above, we also participate in 8-aside tournaments on public holidays about once every two months.
